Hello Friends!

Allow me to introduce myself! I am Mckenzie, I'm an executive assistant for an organization that serves individuals with I/DD as well as autism diagnosis. I continue to work directly with the individuals by doing overtime as a DPS. I won't forget my roots! I am a huge advocate for autism acceptance. In my spare time, I crochet and weave, as well as occasionally sew. And by all of that, I really mean I sit around and think about doing that while silently cursing my horrendous executive function. I also am an avid planner! I currently am using a Moleskin Storyboard Notebook as my planner, and it's pretty awesome! :D

I am a mom to my son Miles, who is 9 years old. He is on a mission to eliminate all plastic bags from this world, as well as go green and save the world. Together, we enjoy the nerdier things of life, ranging from Pokémon to Studio Ghibli films. He also has an autism diagnosis, as well as dyspraxia, ADHD and sensory processing disorder. He is planning on writing articles on going green and his own experiences with autism to help bring awareness to his life.

There is also The Boyfriend. I must still consult with him if he wants his identity revealed in the world of blogging, or if he'll want to join in on this. But hey, he exists, he's pretty cool and he joins in with the fun Miles and I activities and enjoys Miles just as much as I do. He's into hoarding collecting board and card games!

We live in a tiny studio apartment, rocking the tiny living thing. Totally out of choice, yea. We'll go with that. Miles loved it at first, as he was obsessed with Tiny Houses. But, we're working on some organization in order to make it a little more accessible to everybody.

Speaking of everybody, we have 2 cats - Wil and Phoenix. Phoenix is a grumpy old man, clock in at 16 years now! Phoenix is a chunky 2 year old boy, clocking in at 16 pounds. He thinks he is a dog. And lastly, we have Harly. She's a Yorkshire Terrier that is the physical embodiment of anxiety.

YO. (+new favorite stimmy word)

They raised the prices by a quarter at my laundromat. RUDE.  Also, I did not have a pleasant laundromat experience last night, and I am sad. There was a gentlemen there, who may have been on some sort of drugs, talking on speaker phone with his mother and she was just yelling at him the whole time, all while he was dropping everything he owned over and over again. I'm glad he was able to find a safe space to be during that time, as I never want to see somebody struggling somewhere unsafe, but still. It was only him and I, and the young attendant. So, I found a little spot by my laundry machines, and hung out there. I also put too much detergent in one of my laundry machines and had to run it a second time, so I didn't have enough quarters to properly dry everything, because of the price raise and my screw up, so towels will have to dry alone in the bathroom. Sorry towels. The worst part is, I was planning on perfectly cleaning the towels, making them all super fluffy and ...

IT'S SNOWING! +other grand adventures

IT'S SNOWING! It's not much snow, but it's pretty snow. I forgot to take pictures though. :( MATT BOUGHT A NEW CAR! Like, a new new car. Only 18 miles, of which we put 5 miles on during the test drive. It's nice. I personally would not have made this drastic of a financial leap, but he is set on it. It's within his budget, but just a lot of sacrifices are going to be made, and he's... errr…. not good at that. I'm nervous, but supportive. Miles made some new sensory boxes himself. I personally thought he grew out of the rice boxes awhile ago, but at the flea market we attend every weekend, they use rice in their displays and Miles always ends up over to this both playing with them. So, with flea market season ending, it was time to make his own boxes! They're super simple, one has small glass vials of varying sizes and he fills them up. The other has farm animals and army men in them. He was absolutely enthralled with them. He played for them for almo...

Laundromats, on my blog? It's more likely then you think. (My laundry routine)

Hello friends, and look at this, take 256 at blogging. Something that always irks me is this whole thing that the laundromat absolutely sucks, that it has to be a nasty chore. Okay, maybe I'm slightly spoiled because I do my laundry in the middle of Woodstock. (shout out to Woodstock Laundry, y'all awesome) Another thing that is a plus is my son is obsessed with doing laundry and the laundromat. Lots of flat elevated surfaces that are warm are apparently an ideal Hot Wheel race track. My laundromat is average. Coin operated, clean, a little pricy, very friendly staff. They have 3 different size washing machines. One is a micro machine. They say it's for one load of laundry, but I don't know what that even looks like. Who does just one load of laundry? That one costs 13 quarters. Then they have Mr. 21. That is my goal. To bring enough laundry to just fill him up, no more no less. There are like, 6 of these machines. I don't know about the front 5 for the longest ti...
