Hello friends, and look at this, take 256 at blogging. Something that always irks me is this whole thing that the laundromat absolutely sucks, that it has to be a nasty chore. Okay, maybe I'm slightly spoiled because I do my laundry in the middle of Woodstock. (shout out to Woodstock Laundry, y'all awesome) Another thing that is a plus is my son is obsessed with doing laundry and the laundromat. Lots of flat elevated surfaces that are warm are apparently an ideal Hot Wheel race track.
My laundromat is average. Coin operated, clean, a little pricy, very friendly staff. They have 3 different size washing machines. One is a micro machine. They say it's for one load of laundry, but I don't know what that even looks like. Who does just one load of laundry? That one costs 13 quarters. Then they have Mr. 21. That is my goal. To bring enough laundry to just fill him up, no more no less. There are like, 6 of these machines. I don't know about the front 5 for the longest time, I thought there was only one so I would come at the most weirdest times possible to access that one machine. And lastly, there are two 27 quarter machines. I have failed at laundry when I need to use one of these.
(please note, there are times I have used both 27s and a 21. I suck at keeping up with laundry)
My routine is generally the night before, gather up all my clothes and sort through them all, making sure there are actually all just clothes in there. I have brought way too many stuff animals, Hot Wheels, various objects and once even a whole cat. I'll throw some pods in the bag, whatever is on sale. Then I put the in the car, and I go to the laundromat after work. My laundromat usually isn't too busy.
Being in Woodstock, there are a lot of eccentric characters at the laundromat. Once I met a girl that was converting a bus into home to go travel cross country with her family, with the profits of her tarot business. She was cool, but a little too eccentric and I had to change my laundry day from Tuesday to Wednesday... another day was a couple of homeless folks with some fabulous stories to share about their adventures. Other days it's silent. Other days I'm the eccentric one to share stories with tourists stopping through just cleaning up.
I always pack a book, some yarn, my loom and a crochet hook. Sometimes I'll pack up my planner and some sticker books and I'll decorate for the month. For the most part, I just relax and enjoy the happy white noise of the laundry machine. I'll walk around Woodstock a bit if I get antsy, but when I do that I spend too much money. Oops.
Today is going to be expensive day. All the sheets and blankets, towels, mine and Miles' clothes, and maybe boyfriend's clothes. Maybe a rug if I'm feeling adventurous. I bought extra smelly stuff for the blankets and sheets! (it better work) Wish me luck.
